This CD was created by Diane Friese and Gail Minor-Babin who are certified as music practitioners (CMPs) through the Music for Healing and Transition Program (MHTP), accredited by the National Standards Board of Therapeutic Musicians. On the CD, Diane plays several Native American flutes and the lyre and Gail plays harp, keyboards, guitar and sings. Separately, Gail and Diane have been playing music for people in hospitals, nursing homes and hospice for six years.
About 5 years ago, as an experiment, Diane began playing at her local Maine animal shelter and to her delight many of the cats, dogs and birds responded favorably as humans do when listening to soothing music. Since then she has been playing weekly at Coastal Humane Society in Brunswick, Maine and for her feline family members. Gail has been playing music for her many canine family members for many years.
The songs on this CD were selected as being particularly effective in producing a calming environment for both rescue animals and their caretakers. In addition, the songs have produced the same de-stressing environment for people who have rescue animals as part of their families.
